In addition to a wealth of advanced cosmetic and general dental treatments, as well as facial rejuvenation procedures, we are delighted to be able to offer our clients at the dental-Spa the option of acupuncture. This is a traditional method of healthcare, able to provide a real change to a person’s health and way of living.

What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a traditional method of treatment in which subtle diagnostic techniques are used to leave the body in a “balanced state”; this is done by focusing on creating equilibrium between a person’s yin and yang. It is one of the oldest healing systems in the world and is part of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Unlike Western medicine acupuncture focuses on a person as an individual and the treatment is accordingly bespoke. There can be no two of the same medical cases with acupuncture.

Why would I need acupuncture?

Acupuncture focuses on harnessing the flow of the body’s vital energy – otherwise known as qi – from points in the body to the next. If this is not done by the body, then this can result in stress or illness. The reasons for which you may require acupuncture are numerous, including a long-standing illness, a diet that lacks in key nutrients or an injury causing pain and discomfort.

There are 14 to 20 main channels, or meridians, which control the flow of qi. These meridians help connect the body together and it is predicted that there are over 2,000 acupuncture points. Through the insertion of sterile needles into these points of the body, this can help to alleviate pressure or pain and help the qi to flow freely around the body once more.
